The sky threatened rain as I was driving to Bridges Golf Course, which is tucked away in Starbuck, Manitoba, just 30 minutes from Winnipeg. The banquet room was all set up; tables spaced out to socially distance guests and masks and hand sanitizer readily available. Yixiu was upstairs in the loft with her bridesmaids, getting hair and makeup done and laying out all of the carefully chosen details of her bridal look. Dinghua was already in his dark blue suit.
Before we ventured out onto the course for bridal party portraits, Yixiu and Dinghua had their "first look" in the loft. The course itself was busy with golfers I'm assuming getting in one of the last golfs of the year on this cloudy Sunday. They graciously gave us space as we posed by the course's bridges and fall foliage. By 2:30 pm we returned to the loft to wait for guests to arrive and the outdoor ceremony to begin.
Yixiu and Dingua's personal vows (along with the humour of their friend and officiant) left their guests smiling - I'm assuming because, you know, masks. The face masks only came off later, once guests were seated at their tables, ready to enjoy the delicious meal created by the Bridges' chef.
The evening was filled with heartfelt speeches resulting in many laughs and many tears. The couple ended the evening with their first dance, which was choreographed to perfection, and a cake cutting. Below I've listed the lovely wedding vendors that helped to make this day happen.
